A Nighttime Ritual for Kids: Gratitude & Guided Meditation

Welcome to Mindful V!

I’m Veronica Moya, and I’m here to remind your child—and you—that they are the boss of themselves and they create their life with their mind.
This nighttime practice is a beautiful way for your child to wind down, reflect with gratitude, and fall asleep feeling loved, calm, and empowered.

📝 Step 1: Write Down Your Day

Get your child in their pajamas, dim the lights, and give them their journal or notebook.

Have them list everything they did today—no matter how small.
Examples:

  • “I woke up”

  • “I brushed my teeth”

  • “I ate breakfast”

  • “I went to school”

  • “I played outside”

This step helps them connect with the present and build awareness of their daily life.

💖 Step 2: Add Gratitude to Every Moment

Here’s the twist: every entry must include a statement of gratitude. Even if they don’t feel like it right away-this is about creating the habit.

Try this:

  • “I am thankful that I woke up today.”

  • “I’m grateful I have teeth to brush!”

  • “I’m thankful I went to school because I learned and grew.”

Encourage them to find meaning, even in the routine. It builds emotional resilience and teaches them to see beauty in the ordinary.

🧘‍♀️ Step 3: Guided Meditation for a Peaceful Sleep

Now it’s time to go inward. Help your child get into bed, close their eyes, and take slow, deep breaths.

Guide them to imagine:

✨ A white protective light shining from the top of their head, gently filling their body.
✨ A magical world where they are free, happy, light as a feather.
✨ Dancing in the clouds, surrounded by ease, love, and laughter.

Encourage them to picture one wonderful thing that could happen tomorrow. This helps them fall asleep with excitement, peace, and optimism.

🌟 Bedtime Affirmation: You Are the Creator

Before they drift off, remind them:

  • You are always protected.

  • You are powerful.

  • You are loved.

  • You are the boss of you.

Let them fall asleep knowing that their thoughts matter, their energy creates reality, and that their imagination is the gateway to happiness.
